WASHINGTON, D.C.—President Donald Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress on Monday, March 10, 2025, as transcribed by The Stuyvesant Spectator:

Speaker Johnson, Vice President Vance, my lovely, amazing, beautiful wife Melania, my genius First Buddy Elon Musk, and all of you members of the United States Congress: let me begin by saying that I have delivered on my promise—America is great again.

Since I was inaugurated below the dome of this big, beautiful building two months ago, I have already ushered in the Golden Age of America. Our jobs, wonderful American jobs, are up tenfold. Our borders have been secured against the Mexican invasion. Our economy is booming. But it is despite my successes that I address you today, for a new woke, leftist, radical insurgency has taken hold in these United States: the so-called “War on Poverty.”

Very smart people have told me that this war was started by Cryin’ Lyin’ Lyndon Johnson and continued by all subsequent Democratic presidents and, quite frankly, has even become World War III. Of course, crooked Joe Biden is responsible for increasing our commitment to this unjust fight. He committed economic terrorism on our own people by printing trillions of dollars of fraudulent stimulus checks, which I would know because I gave out real checks, signed off on them like my business contracts, the best and realest checks. His “American Rescue Plan” was nothing but a fake news operation run by hacks of the Deep State and its cronies Low Ratings CNN and ABC Fake News to get dangerous DEI into all parts of American society. He even mobilized the army—the Salvation Army—to give out free food, which I have been told has lost America billions and billions of dollars by encouraging welfare queens to abuse these handouts.

The American people and people of the world are suffering under this unjust, illegitimate war. In Communist China alone, 800 million people have been forcefully “liberated” from poverty by the Chinese Communist Party and its socialist agenda. The Chinese people are begging to return to their sweatshops. Our own companies are suffering because of the lack of labor. Poverty is an American virtue—when the founding fathers declared independence from British tyranny in 1776, they kept in mind the rights of the people thriving under poverty along with our other fundamental freedoms, like the freedom of speech, freedom of press, and the right to bear arms. Take a look at the world around you and tell me if those ideals are alive today.

We cannot allow the British government to once again strip their citizens of a fundamental human right: the right to be impoverished. The Leftist Labour Party - terrible name by the way, terrible - ironically shuns and outlaws the right for all to work. Think of the teary-eyed British children who yearn for the mines. Think of the thousands of retirees who live their lives numbed by welfare and the nimwit NHS. Think of the homeless on the streets of London who would love to work in a factory. Then remember how Lunatic Labour has taken the hopes and dreams of their people away. They say it’s the worst party ever in the history of their country. Perhaps worse than the crooked Democratic Party in the US. We shall not forget the South Koreans, Chinese, and Japanese who work themselves to the bone just to avoid living in poverty because they have been convinced by their governments that poverty is something to be avoided. They are wrong; poverty is freedom, the largest, most amount of freedom someone can have.

We will not forget the millions of citizens of the European Union whose working lives are ruled by a cabal of elites in Brussels. We will not forget how Mexico, a country which has been blessed with high amounts of income inequality, uses them to attack our borders and bring drugs into our country. Bad hombres… bad hombres. Tonight we are a country full of glorious, righteous rage called to defend freedom and to spread democracy through poverty to the misguided nations of the world.

Tonight, we, the United States of America, make these following demands to the world: deliver to the United States authorities all leaders of the world who have spread the Big Lie against poverty. Release your people and grant them the freedom they are owed. Immediately stop the illegal activity of all headquarters of your conniving humanitarian organizations. Give the United States and our forces full access to your nations and resources so we may ensure the proper responses are underway.

These demands are not open to negotiation. The governments of the world must act immediately or risk having their people be caught in the impending battles.

If you do not comply with each and every condition, by the love of God, we will impoverish your sons and daughters by force. The United States military is the greatest in the world, and we are prepared to wield it to defend the rights of billions across the world. The War on Poverty began with the mistake of a Democrat, and it will end under the leadership of a Republican.

Let it be known that we do not hate the people of the world. We love you. We see you. So much so, we will fight you, for you. We intervened in the two World Wars to liberate Europe. We intervened in Vietnam to liberate Vietnam from communism and from the crooked Soviet Communists. We intervened in Afghanistan and Iraq to liberate Afghanistan and Iraq from radical Islam’s terrorism. Today, we intervene to free the world from economic liberty. To the people of all countries: support the United States, and you will not be harmed. We are the arsenal of poverty, and we will help you. Stand against us, however, and you shall face the just will of the American people.

I interpret the will of this Congress and of the people when I ask all you Congressmen and women gathered here to join this War on Poverty on the side of poverty. I have complete faith in our armed forces and our manifest destiny ordained by the Lord.

Americans, we will fight their tyranny with patient and forceful justice. Be assured of the success of our noble endeavor. I pray today: may God bestow upon us the strength and wisdom requisite to deliver that justice, and may He guide and support us in our new crusade.

Thank you, and God bless the United States of America. Fight, fight, fight!
