Assistant Principal of Safety & Security Brian Moran has not been at Stuyvesant since early June of 2025, according to the school administration. His leave coincides with the administration’s discovery of and response to antisemitic graffiti in the second-floor boys’ bathroom.
After being made aware of the graffiti during the week of May 19, Principal Seung Yu and school administrators condemned this blatant antisemitism and unsettling vandalism while announcing a proposed closure and required sign-in to certain boys’ bathrooms. The New York Post reported on the situation, claiming that the Stuyvesant administration was attempting to “cover up” the antisemitic nature of the bathroom vandalism. Following the discovery of the graffiti and the publication of the New York Post article, students returned to classes on Tuesday, May 27. Then-senior Muhib Muhib met with Assistant Principal of Safety & Security and Health & Physical Education Brian Moran to discuss personal online safety relating to the antisemitic graffiti.
Since their meeting, Moran has been on leave from Stuvyesant. Stuyvesant administrators are hopeful that Moran will return to Stuyvesant, yet they have no news to share. In the interim, Assistant Principal of Biology, Physics, and Computer Science Marianne Prabhu is working with Health teachers while Assistant Principal of Chemistry, Technology, and Art & Music Scott Thomas is advising Physical Education teachers. Additionally, Dr. Yu is providing active assistance towards student safety and continuing to maintain an active presence in school security.
